Dad needs a stiff drink on Father’s Day so why not indulge him with the most classic and MANLY cocktail of all-time: The Manhattan. Rumor has it that this boss of all drinks originated in the famed city at the Manhattan Club and was made exclusively with rye whiskey. Whether or not it’s true, what we do know is that this masculine cocktail will certainly have you biting your tongue.
THE MANHATTAN
2 oz Whiskey or Bourbon (Rye Whisky as in the ORIGINAL)
½ oz Sweet Vermouth
Dash of Angostura bitters
Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass or serve on the rocks in an old fashioned lowball. Add a maraschino cherry to garnish in case Mom joins in for cocktail hour!
